The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Education Manager supports classroom implementation of Decision Education and advocates for its inclusion in schools throughout the nation. They provide partnership, support, and high-quality in the areas of standards-aligned professional learning experiences for teachers, work with school leaders and district administrators to integrate Decision Education across existing curriculum, and implementation of new DE courses and instructional initiatives.

The Education Manager has extensive experience in professional development and a keen understanding of the complexities of school and district-level instructional decision-making. They will work to build awareness and inclusion of Decision Education in classrooms everywhere.

The position can be partially remote initially, but we would strongly prefer that the Education Manager mainly work from the Alliance office in Bala Cynwyd, PA once the organization deems it safe to return to the office. That said, we will consider long-term remote work for exceptional candidates. Occasional travel will be expected once it is deemed safe.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Engage with teachers and school leaders to deepen their knowledge of Decision Education as a discipline; design and lead professional learning experiences for educators to deepen their pedagogical content knowledge of Decision Education
  • Support our ongoing efforts to grow a community of educators who seek to integrate Decision Education into their instructional practices and school culture; support the ongoing recruitment of teachers and schools into various Alliance initiatives and in general, to garner interest in our mission
  • Lead the exploration and development of models of Decision Education implementation in individual classrooms and entire schools
  • Gain a deep understanding of various state, district, and school contexts in order to inform the scope and implementation of Decision Education in various contexts
  • Collaborate with the other members of the Education team to integrate Decision Education learning standards into existing courses of study in schools 
  • Visit school sites (once it is deemed safe)
  • Responsibilities may change over time as we evaluate the needs of the organization


We seek a driven and proactive individual who has a high level of intellectual curiosity, values the expertise of teachers, enjoys working collaboratively, and sees the interconnectedness between their role and the organization’s mission. Qualifications of ideal candidates include: 

  • Experience
    • 5+ years of experience as a teacher, preferably in a core content area
    • 2+ years of experience as a school and/or district leader (e.g. school department chair or other position of academic administration, district professional development coordinator, etc.) and/or as a content coach
    • Experience designing and facilitating impactful professional learning for educators
    • Deep knowledge of educational learning standards within one or more content areas
    • Content expertise in one or more core content areas, including curriculum design and assessment components
    • Experience with program and/or project management
    • Experience participating in or leading curriculum development or standards initiatives
    • Prior knowledge of or experience with Decision Education or related fields is preferred, but not required.
    • Prior experience designing contests and competitions and/or play-to-learn programs is preferred, but not required.
    • Prior knowledge of or experience with digital badging and/or digital credentialing is preferred, but not required.
